Google reportedly paid $2.7B in 2024 to bring him and Character[.]AI talent back, then put him on Gemini.
With him, OpenAI gains someone who has built major dialogue systems, worked inside Google-scale infrastructure, and understands the architectural race from both startup and Big Tech sides.
